This new organisation will market county to national and international tourists.
Unitary tourist board welcomed by local hospitality sector
Visit Devon has been launched to market the region as a tourism destination, and to further attract both domestic and international visitors.
The creation of this private Community Interest Company (CIC) comes after a year of consultation in 2015, with a large majority of the region’s hospitality businesses supporting the idea of a single organisation to support the local tourism sector.
“We’re delighted to see Visit Devon get off the ground. Devon is one of the UK’s top destinations, with a fantastic array of natural and built attractions, and an abundance of award winning food and drink providers and places to stay.”
– Victoria Hatfield, Chair of the Devon Tourism Partnership
This follows on from the creation of www.northdevon.com – a new website designed with the intention of boosting tourism.
With the South West already the most popular UK tourism region, these welcome developments will increase awareness about Devon as a visitor destination.
