When the whole world will have eyes on Brazil
There is nothing like a major international event or occurrence to draw attention to a particular nation and in 2014 and 2016, Brazil will be the focus of people’s attentions from across the globe.
Embratur, which is the Brazilian tourism board, is looking to take full advantage of such an irresistible opportunity to promote tourism within the country not only during the events, but also beyond. Encompassing all facets of the tourism industry, from ecotourism, business travel, city tours, culture and the beach, Embratur is already laying out its goals for the next decade.
With such high international exposure at their fingertips, Embratur are looking to take advantage of the benefits up to 2020. Jeanine Pires, the minister for tourism, has said that he hopes to see foreign currency earning increase by a massive 304 percent during that period with an increase of 113 percent in international visitors. The country is hoping to sustain a growth rate in tourism that is higher than any other country in the region, to eventually hold a 27 percent market share of the tourism market for the entire South American continent.
Already the continents largest economy, Brazil fared very well during the recent economic downturn, with only Africa boasting a more buoyant trade in tourism. 2010 has also started very brightly for Brazil’s tourism business and much of this can be attributed to a trend in business arrivals as Brazils economy continues to attract investment from overseas.
