Brazil to see strong growth in 2010

According to the central bank of Brazil, a new survey has indicated that the South American country’s economy will grow by 7.13 percent in 2010. This figure is up from economists previous forecast of 7.06 percent.

Carried out amongst the country’s financial institutions, the focus market survey showed the 15th consecutive rise in the gross domestic product forecast.

Brazil’s GDP expanded in the first quarter of 2010 by 2.7 percent when compared with the final quarter of 2009. The increase when compared with the same period the previous year was 9 percent.

In 2009, foreign direct investment (FDI) totaled 25.9 whereas FDI was already at 11.4 billion dollars in the first five months of 2010 alone. It is expected that FDI will reach 35 billion dollars for 2010, and that figure is expected to rise to 40 billion dollars in 2011.
