Colchester top of the UK buy-to-let tree again

Nov 30, 2018

Since 2014, the LendInvest Buy-to-Let Index has been using data from the Land Registry and Zoopla to measure residential property investment performance across 105 postcodes.

Rental growth highest in England & Wales

The 4 key factors considered include rental yield, capital gains, rental price growth and transaction volume growth.

The November quarterly report places Colchester firmly back in pole position overall for the second time in 2018.

It was #1 for rental price growth at 6.5% – a full 2.07% ahead of its nearest rival.

“A top 3 regular over the past 12 months, Colchester has reclaimed number one spot in the LendInvest BTL Index this quarter.

It is now the progress of rental prices in the market that drive the attraction this postcode will have to buy-to-let investors.

Home ownership amongst young adults has been in steady decline in the UK and Colchester’s rental market is thriving as a direct result. With development in the market limited, the private rental sector is providing buy-to-let landlords with ample opportunity to benefit from this trend.”
