Great news for our investors, as universities in three of our current student property locations receive Gold awards in the new Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF)
Keele University in Stoke, Huddersfield University and De Montfort University in Leicester all picked up the highest Gold accolade, alongside just 56 other institutions.
The TEF rated 295 universities and colleges in total, with 116 receiving silver and 56 bronze. Fifty-nine institutions received Gold, while the remaining 64 were given a provisional rating.
The Gold rating is only given to institutions with “consistently outstanding teaching, learning and outcomes for its students”, with criteria that include high-quality, engaged teaching; a supportive, stimulating learning environment; having the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their potential and the opportunity to progress to a good job or further study.
This benefits our investors, with the continued high performance and growth of our universities helping to further secure their long-term interests.
Backing up our focus on regional locations
The results are further evidence of the suitability of regional locations, like Stoke, Huddersfield and Leicester, for student property investments.
This is especially true when you consider that both the University of Liverpool and Manchester University fell short of the top award, with bronze and silver, respectively, while one in three London institutions received bronze – compared to one in eight outside the capital.
Indeed, out of all our previous student property locations, none received an award lower than silver, with Loughborough University also picking up Gold.
